It will not be wrong if we say that Superman is the backbone of DC. This seems true because Superman is the first popular Superhero of DC and the same goes for the entire World. Today Superman is represented as the symbol of Hope in the comics and movies, and fans get inspired from that. The second reason for Superman being a fan favorite is the varieties of superpowers he possesses. He has so much different sorts of superpowers which can form many different superheroes if everyone is handed a single superpower of Superman. But, during his long journey throughout the comics’ history, we fans got to see many different versions of Superman. Some were extremely powerful while some were not so good characters. So today we will discuss such 10 strongest versions of Superman that we have seen till now.
Supermen
Before starting the post, please keep in mind that this list of top 10 strongest versions of Superman may vary from yours as everyone has their own thought process and assumptions. So, this being said, let’s get to our countdown.
10) Bizzaro
Bizzaro has his identity as an evil version of Superman, but the only difference here is that he is a clone of Superman. Also, he doesn’t possess human intelligence and hence he is a stupid version of Superman.
Bizzaro has many similarities with Superman and some differences too, like he cannot be harmed by the green Kryptonite, rather his weakness is blue Kryptonite. Overally, it can be said that Bizarro is almost similar to Superman, but he is a bit stronger than Superman because he doesn’t think for a second before acting as he is a dumber version of Superman.
9) Superman Red & Blue
We all know how powerful Superman actually is, but what if Superman gets divided into two separate personalities and his power gets doubled with each personality having his particular set of powers. We got to witness something exactly like this in case of Superman Red & Blue.
The story goes like, when Cyborg Superman and Toy-man join their forces to create a trap for Superman and their plan succeeds when Superman falls for the trap. But, this trap didn’t work like it was expected, because what this trap did was that it divided Superman into two different personalities and hence we got to see Superman Red & Blue.
Both of them possess similar set of powers. But the only difference here is that there are two Supermen now, which means his power is double now. Hence, this version is one of the strongest versions of Superman.
8) Superman: The Dark Side
We all know the back story of Superman, where and how he landed on Earth as a kid and after that Martha and her husband raised him as their son. But in an alternate timeline, the space shuttle in which Superman was sent from Krypton didn’t land on Earth, rather it landed on Apocalypse, where Darkseid raised him as his son.
In future Darkseid trains him as a killer and teaches him how to cause destruction. Now you can just imagine that the normal Superman is already so strong and additionally, if Darkseid has trained him then how dangerous he would be.
7) Injustice Superman
You all must be familiar with this version of Superman. He is the one that we have seen in the Injustice timeline, where his mind was completely corrupted and he brutally killed Joker because he’d killed his wife.
This storyline revealed that if Superman lost his temper and self-control, then how strong he could be. In this storyline, after his mind got corrupted, he killed many characters and even some Gods. He killed Hercules, beat Shazam to death, and many such incidents took place in the story.
This is one of the best storylines of DC. If you have not read this storyline then do give it a shot, it’ll not disappoint you.
6) Ultraman
Ultraman is also an evil version of Superman and he belongs to Earth-3. In this universe, Kryptonians are an evil species and they sent Ultraman intentionally to Earth in order to cause chaos and destruction.
Ultraman even killed his adopted parents as he grew up. He possesses powers similar to other versions of Superman, but what makes him different is that he has two special abilities which makes him stand different from the other versions. Firstly, he has cosmic awareness which is not found in any version of Superman and secondly, he is immune to any kind of Kryptonite. Rather, he becomes stronger when he comes in contact with Kryptonite. Now you can just imagine how strong a character can be if he has the powers of Superman that too with no weakness plus an evil mindset.
5) Superboy Prime
As we know from the comics and animated movies that Superboy is a clone of Superman. But, during a storyline, Superboy becomes so insanely overpowered, and this version came to be known as Superboy Prime.
His power level can be figured out from the fact that he has even killed Anti Monitor, who is considered amongst the top 5 strongest characters of DC. Superboy Prime’s powers have no upper limit and he has also defeated the entire Justice League including Superman with ease.
4) Silver Age Superman
This is the version of Superman from the 60s, which was portrayed as an ultimate version of Superman in the comics.
The power limits of this Superman were equal to the Sky fathers, which means that he possessed powers to destroy solar systems and galaxies very easily. Not only this, but the Silver Age Superman has even destroyed the entire solar system with just one sneeze.
Also, he was able to move many planets at once from their orbit and place them in some other place. In the 1970s, it was believed that this version of Superman was the strongest version of Superman to ever exist in the comics, but today it is behind three other versions in our list.
3) Strange Visitor Superman
Strange visitor Superman is also a similar character to that of Silver Age Superman. He is also a Sky Father level being, with powers to shake entire galaxies. This version of Superman is from the future, where he has already defeated almost all heavy hitters of the DC universe.
In the comics, it is seen that Strange visitor Superman has destroyed many planets and solar systems. He is also completely immune to Kryptonite. This version of Superman didn’t last for a very long period of time in the comics, but during the duration of his appearance, he was a fan favorite character.
2) Superman Prime 1 Million
The story behind this version of Superman is that after losing all his loved ones, Superman decides to leave planet Earth for ever and hence he settles down inside the core of the sun.
After many years of this incident, he returns back to Earth. But this time he was completely golden in color and his power levels were enhanced. Moreover, he has become immune to Kryptonite and magic. Superman Prime 1 Million is a Celestial level being who possesses the power to create or destroy entire galaxies at once. He is also able to create new lives, and using this power he also recreates his planet Krypton.
1) Thought Robot Superman
Many of you may be surprised that this version of Superman is at the first position, but believe me after you know more about this character, you will no longer be surprised.
Thought Robot or the Cosmic Armor Superman is actually a robot, who was created by a creature named Monitor with the help of Ultraman and Superman. The purpose of creating him was to defeat a multiversal enemy Mandrakk. But while creating it, no one would have thought that this version of Superman would become so much powerful.
After defeating Mandrakk, this Superman decided to be a guide of the multiverse, because he is a metaversal being, who is above the multiverse. This version of Superman is even powerful than characters like Lucifer Morningstar and the Spectre, who themselves are multiversal beings. For a Marvel fan, Thought Robot Superman is like Eternity from the Marvel universe.
So this was all about the top 10 strongest versions of Superman. We hope you liked it, and do let us know in the comments below if you think that any other version of Superman deserves to be in this list.
