There is no person who claims to be a superhero fan and have never seen or heard about the green monster of Marvel, Hulk. We have seen this character appearing time and time again in the MCU movies, where he has become one of the most fan favorite superhero of all time. But what if I tell you that there’s a lot more about this character that you don’t know. 52) Grey, not Green

In the early comics of Hulk, his actual color was grey, not green. But in the future his color was changed to green because the printers at that time weren’t able to maintain the grey color constantly. Since green was a more easy to print color, hence Stan lee opted for green Hulk.

51) Ghostbuster

Amongst the many lesser known abilities of Hulk is the ability to see ghosts and spirits. This is the reason which makes Hulk one of the very few members being able to see Dr. Strange in his astral form.

50) Edge of Cancellation

Despite making his entry in the comics around the same time as Spiderman and Iron man, Hulk was always on the verge of cancellation. Even the solo title of Hulk was provided to him in 1963, after almost six comic book issues.

Everybody knows that Bruce turns into Hulk every time he gets angry, but very few people know the fact that Hulk keeps becoming stronger as much as his anger keeps increasing.

The Hunchback and Golem were two similar characters who were portrayed as to be incredibly strong, with poor vocabulary and limited intellect.

In the TV series of Hulk in 1978, the writers changed Bruce Banner’s first name to David, as the show producer believed that David sounds manlier and also an alliterative name is unrealistic, ignoring the fact that the name of the actor playing the role was Bill Bixby.

37) Bulk to be Hulk

We all know Lou Ferrigno as the first live action Hulk, but he once lost his job to the appealing James Bond villain, Richard Kiel. Further Richard lost this job because he wasn’t bulky enough to play the Hulk.

36) Red Hulk

After the events of World War Hulk, the Hulk started losing his charm. In order to tackle this situation, the writers introduced a new character named Red Hulk in the comics, who was more violent and skilful than the Hulk. His identity was later revealed to be Hulk’s long term rival General Ross.

Once in the Ultimate Universe storyline, Bruce got so jealous seeing her ex-girlfriend Betty Ross dating Freddie Prinze Jr. that he transformed into Hulk and started hunting down Freddie in order to eat him up. But later his team somehow managed to stop his rampage.

Once in a storyline, Bruce’s transformation got some problem and every time he turned into Hulk, his head would still remain in human form. To tackle this situation he used to wear a Hulk mask proportionate to his grown up body. This transformation defect was solved later in future.

The standalone Hulk comics were never as popular as that of Spiderman and Fantastic Four, but it’s not the same for his contemporaries. The Illuminati of the Marvel universe, pretending to be Hulk’s friend, sent him to outer space in a spaceship thinking that it was the only way to contain him. This later resulted in the creation of ‘World War Hulk’ event, where Hulk returned and destroyed every member of the Illuminati.

During the Marvel Zombies storyline, Hulk transformed into a Zombie and bit off Silver Surfer’s head, which provided him the cosmic powers of Surfer.

For the same series in which Ferrigno was the Hulk, Arnold Schwarzenegger was also considered beforehand. But this role was not given to him because of his shorter height (6’2’’) as compared to Ferrigno (6’5’’).

After the Illuminati sent Hulk into the space, he somehow managed to land on a planet named ‘Sakaar’ and shortly he became the king there. This is the same planet where we saw Hulk in MCU’s ‘Thor Ragnarok’.

In a rare Marvel-DC crossover of the 90s, Hulk was merged with DC’s character ‘Solomon Grundy’ to form a character named ‘Skulk’. But unfortunately this character was unable to grab Fans’ attention and soon got lost in the shadows.

Spiderman once defeated the Hulk just by telling him a joke. The joke was so funny that Hulk started laughing so hard that he eventually turned into Bruce Banner.

During a comic storyline ‘Planet Hulk’, the planet’s tectonic plates got ripped apart by a doomsday bomb. To stop the plates from further sliding, the Hulk jumped into a river of lava and then grabbed the plates by hands and put them together again.

Lyra, the daughter of Hulk, is the exact opposite of Hulk. Unlike Hulk, she becomes weaker with increasing anger levels. To prevent this from happening, she has mastered many meditative fighting styles.

The Hulk’s body is able to create an internal gland that further creates oxygenated perfluorocarbon emulsion, which fills his lungs with required air and equalizes the body pressure. As a result of this, the Hulk manages to breathe underwater very easily.

Once during a battle between the Hulk and Wolverine, Hulk got so angry that he literally teared Wolverine into two halves and threw his pieces miles apart from each other. It took two and a half year for Wolverine to crawl back and join his two pieces again.

Mark Ruffalo replaced Ed Norton as the Hulk in the MCU after Ed refused to continue his role after 2008’s ‘The Incredible Hulk’. This was because he wanted to focus the story more around the character of Bruce Banner, not around the Hulk. This script was not accepted by Marvel studios and hence Norton refused to continue his role.

You can assume Hulk’s strength from the fact that he once hurled Fing Fang Foom from Antarctica to the Moon.

But in comics, shortly after joining the group, Hulk left it after the first battle of the Avengers (against Loki) because he assumed that the people around him could get in danger if in case he loses his temper. During the early days of Hulk’s comics, the series got cancelled just after six issues due to its less popularity among readers. The Hulk didn’t become popular until he joined the Avengers. Due to his less popularity, the writers of the Avengers series were hesitant about putting the Hulk in Avengers.

9) Tony Stark’s creation

In the ‘Original Sins #3.1’ of 2014, it was revealed that the gamma bomb that created the Hulk was purposefully altered by Tony Stark (aka Iron man) before the explosion. It means that the Hulk exists today because of Tony Stark.

Since his first appearance in comics, the Hulk has been married three times at three different planets and also has 4 kids.

The Hulk once got so angry that he unleashed all of his power and destroyed an entire planet with a single punch.

4) Last man on Earth

In one of the very famous storyline ‘Hulk: The End’, everyone on the planet got killed during a Nuclear war leaving the Hulk wandering alone on earth. What’s more sad was that the Bruce Banner part inside the Hulk also died shortly, which left the Hulk alone as the last man on Earth.

3) Jack Kirby’s Inspiration

The creator of the Hulk, Jack Kirby, got inspiration for the Hulk by a real woman who lifted a car with her hands to save her baby. Jack Kirby later stated “This woman proved me that an ordinary person can transform himself into an extraordinary person in difficult situations and do things that he/she may not ordinarily do.

2) Thanos fears Hulk

During the course of the comic’s timeline, Thanos has repeatedly mentioned it at different occasions that the Hulk is one of the very few creatures he always tries to avoid being in a conflict with. This proves that even Thanos is afraid to face the Hulk.

1) Hulk’s craziest action

With the increasing rivalry between the Hulk and the Wolverine, there was a story line where Hulk procreates a brood of children forcefully with her cousin, She-Hulk. Those kids later murdered Wolverine’s wife and kids on Hulk’s orders. Hulk ate wolverine. Later Wolverine regenerated inside Hulk’s body and came out ripping off Hulk’s body into pieces.
