Worst Superhero Movies
Before beginning the countdown, please keep in mind that every superhero movie of this list resulted as a flop while it was in theaters. Hence, there is no such criteria that one movie is more worse than the other.
8) Green Lantern (2011)
Today we may know Ryan Reynolds as the famous Deadpool from the Marvel universe, but there was a time when Ryan made the most flop movie of the DC universe, Green Lantern.
As a character from comics, Green Lantern has always been loved by the fans, but when DC tried to create a live action movie on this character, it resulted as a flop due to its poor story and execution. You may also have watched this movie in the past, and you would also agree from the fact that there was a severe over use of CGI in this movie. The actors of this movie were incredible, but DC failed to use them properly.
Instead of this Green Lantern movie, you should rather watch the Green Lantern animated series of 2009. But coming back to the movie, we hope that DC will reboot the Green Lantern and make it a proper one in the future because DC has improved a lot in the field of its movies since 2011.
7) Catwoman (2004)
This is definitely going to be the sexiest movie of our list, and this is also deserving, as Catwoman is one of the most appealing woman of the comics. When this movie was released, the fans had very high expectations from it like any other superhero movie, but they were disappointed soon.
The main problem with this movie was that it failed to connect the audience with the actual character of Catwoman, and hence it ended up being just another average action movie. Apart from this there were other problems in this movie too, like a pointless love interest, unconvincing villains, and a sexy but not so accurate costume design. Overall, you can watch this movie once just for entertainment, but don’t expect to get a superhero feel from this movie.
6) Howard the Duck (1986)
You’ll agree on the fact that Howard the duck is one of the most unique character of the Marvel comics. Recently, we also got to see this character in the Guardians of the Galaxy MCU movies and also as a small easter egg in Avengers Endgame. But this was not the first time when Howard the duck appeared in the movies.
In the 1986 movie Howard the duck, we fans got to see this character in the lead. The main reason because of which this movie resulted as a massive flop was due to its insanely worse storyline with over expose of nudity. This movie was rated PG-13, but still it consists of vulgar s*x scenes, body exposes and idiotic but R-rated monsters. This movie was created for kids, but it didn’t have an element that is suitable for kids. If MCU ever created a remake for this movie, then we should wish that the directing contract is given to either James Gunn or Taika Watiti, as only these two directors are able to use this character creatively.
5) Batman & Robin (1997)
Batman and Robin are considered as one of the most iconic duo of the DC comics till present day, but when DC tried to portray this duo in the live action movie, it resulted as a flop. The main reason for this was because of the unclear script which messed up badly between the serious and professional Batman and a curious and childish Robin. Ultimately, this movie received severe hatred from fans.
Fun fact: The hatred this movie created was the reason why Christian Bale almost rejected the Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, but he agreed later with an agreement that there would be no Robin in the entire trilogy.

4) Daredevil (2003)
The first superhero who will come to your mind when you hear the name Ben Affleck will definitely be Batman. But very less people actually know that before becoming Batman in DC, Ben Affleck was the Daredevil of Marvel universe who was a flop obviously.
This movie released on 14th February 2003 with a lot of promises, but all those promises were fake. The main reason for the failure of this movie was its slow and boring plot along with poor character development.
After many years of this movie’s release, Marvel decided to reboot this character and hence the Netflix version of Daredevil series came out. This series resulted as a super hit and hence it covered up the Ben Affleck’s version of Daredevil.
3) Fantastic Four (2015)
It is pretty sure that many of you would have never heard of any such movie, and this is because of the amount of hatred this movie actually received. The 20th Century Fox made this movie as a reboot of the old Fantastic Four movies, but what they didn’t expect was that this movie was going to get so much hate.
The major reasons for the failure of this movie were its idiotic character personalities and poor plot. Almost half of the movie is based on boring discussions in a room, rather than doing superhero stuffs. Apart from this, the Doctor Doom of this movie was not even one percent of the Doctor Doom that we have seen in the comics. Also, one of the reason why this movie went into the shadows is because of its clash with one of the popular MCU movie Ant-man, which was also released in the same year. This movie is one of the important reason behind the failure of 20th Century Fox.
2) Captain America (1990)
The MCU version of Captain America portrayed by Chris Evans is one of the most iconic superhero of any live action movie. Although this character left us in Avengers Endgame, but he will always remain in our hearts. Now, if we talk about the other Captain America who came a lot before Chris Evan’s Cap, then this Captain America was a complete flop.
This movie came out in 1990, when Chris Evans was only 8 years old. This movie was full of loop holes and had a bad storyline. After watching this movie, Rob Gonsalves, one of the most famous critique of that time stated that this movie was one of the dumbest movies of all time. You can imagine the amount of hate this movie received by the fact that the budget of this movie was $60 Million, while its box office collection was only $10,173.
1) Justice League (2017)
Many of you may not agree with the fact, but still the majority of people who have watched this movie will agree that this movie was not as good as we’ve expected.
Some of the major reasons for this were: an idiotic and under developed villain, poor timing of humor, we didn’t feel connected to the characters like we felt on the first Avengers movie, and most importantly Zack Snyder was not there with his magic. Till date fans are wondering that someday we will get a Snyder cut version of Justice League. Also, an honorable mention to the poor CGI of this movie for contributing a part in making this movie hateful.
