The Joker and Harley Quinn’s relationship has been a very crucial aspect of the DC comics since a very long time. There are a lot of romantic stories in the comics that we have read or heard about, but this relationship between Joker and Harley is very different from others. If you create a list of comic book’s most toxic relationships, then this relationship will sit at the top. Unlike other relationships, this couple consists of two mentally challenged characters who are also the two most wanted criminals of Gotham. Over the period of time, we have encountered many situations in comics as well as movies where we have seen the intimacy of their relationship. But do you know there also exist some moments in the comics and movies where Harley broke up with Joker? If No, then keep reading and we will explore about it.

Joker & Harley Quinn’s Break up

Before going to the incidents, let us understand a fact that every time Harley has broken up with Joker, somehow DC patched them up later and they both come back together. Now the fact being said, let’s dive into the article and discover the five moments from DC, where Harley and Mr. J broke up. Please keep in mind that these incidents are categorised as per the intensity of the situation and not by their release order. Enjoy :)

5) Batman: Assault on Arkham

The story of Harley Quinn in this movie is all after she has broken up with the Joker. This movie focuses mainly on developing the relationship between Harley Quinn and Deadshot, his new partner in crimes. Both of them were portrayed so close that there is also a s*x scene involving them in the movie, which sounds a bit awkward.

But during a mission, when Harley finds Joker in the Asylum, her emotions and feelings for the Joker pops out. She even tries to shoot down Joker with Deadshot’s gun initially, but ultimately the Joker manipulates her and then she tries to help him in escaping from the Asylum.

4) Harley Quinn: The Animated Series

This animated series is the latest case of the break up between Harley and Mr. J, which was featured on 29th December 2019. This series focused on the story where Harley breaks up with Joker as a challenge that she can also become a terrorizing criminal of Gotham, without his help.

Later in the series she admits it herself that she has broken up with the Joker, and the reason for this was the abusive behaviour of Joker, as Harley mentions. This statement also seems believable as Joker has constantly abused Harley many times throughout the series. He even tries to kill her in many scenes.

3) Gotham City Sirens #19

During a scene in this comic issue #19 of the Gotham city sirens, Catwoman and Harley start discussing about their love interests and Catwoman reveals her happy life with Batman. Somewhere between this, Harley remembers the time she spent with Joker and all those tortures she went through only to be with him. She gets anxious as well as sad about her and the Joker’s relationship, and she leaves the place.

This comic says that Harley had already broken up with Joker and moved on in life, but still she has feelings for him. Due to all those feelings reprising inside her again, she decides to find and kill the Joker. Poison Ivy and Catwoman even try to stop her, but she defeats both of them and continue her search for the Joker. After so much rampage, at last when she finds him, she points a gun on his head. But one again, the Joker tries to manipulate her and finally she drops the gun and hugs him tight.

2) Batman: Curse of the White Knight #2

In this comics story, Batman somehow manages to arrest Joker and thereafter he reaches out to Harley Quinn, so that she could help him in Joker’s interrogation. But Harley refuses him. A few moments later, we see that Harley is pregnant, and she explains that the father of kid was none other than Joker.

Harley also tells that this was the reason why she left Joker a long time ago, when she realized that she was pregnant. She says that she didn’t want Joker to take the responsibility of a father, as we all know how insane he is and what he had done to his own girlfriend in the past.

But no need to worry guys, this story takes place at some other universe and not in the main timeline of the DC comics, and also Poison Ivy doesn’t exist in the entire timeline of this universe.

1) Harley Quinn #25

In the 2016 comics of Harley Quinn, it was shown that when Harley realizes that his boyfriend Mason is in Arkham Asylum, she decides to invade the asylum and get him out. But she forgets that Mr. J was also in the same asylum. When she tries to escape with Mason, Joker whispers her name from the nearby cell and tries to manipulate her once again to help him get out of there. But unlike our previous points, instead of getting manipulated, this time she thinks for the revenge.

She locks herself in the same cell as Joker. But the game starts changing side and Joker starts abusing her badly. She somehow returns to her senses and a street fight starts between them. I swear, this is one of the sexiest fight scenes in the history of DC.

Finally at the end of the fight, Harley stands tall with a gun in her hand, with Joker was lying on the ground. But just like our previous cases, this time also she didn’t kill Joker due to her love for him. Finally, we see Harley Quinn walking out of the cell, leaving Joker on his own.

Finally, we are at the end of this article. So, in this post what we saw are the five cases in DC’s history where Harley Quinn and Joker’s relation came to an end, and they broke up. But there is a fact hidden in all of the above mention cases. If you observe closely, then you will find that in all the cases we saw where Joker and Harley broke up, Harley was the one who always returned back to Joker, for whatever reason it may be.

I hope you liked the facts, and if you did then do share it with other Joker fans. Also, let us know in the comment section if there is any incident that I missed.
