After 12 years and 23 movies, Marvel has finally decided to make a solo movie of the Russian assassin Black Widow fighting alongside Red Guardian. We first saw this character portrayed by Scarlett Johansson in MCU in 2010, when she first appeared in ‘Iron Man 2’, and since then she has appeared in numerous movies, and ultimately died in ‘Avengers Endgame’. But when we think of Black Widow, then not only her deadly qualities and sexy body, but also a lot of questions about her past rises in our mind. In the MCU movies, we have seen a clean image of Widow, but when we take a look at the comics, then we find that she is not as clean as portrayed in the MCU. In the comics, Black widow has done many things that are not considered as ethical for a superhero. Keep reading this post and we’ll uncover some of the worse things black widow has ever done.

Worst Things Black Widow has done

Before you go into the list, let me tell you that we have organised this list in a countdown of least to most worst things done by Natasha Romanoff. This order may or may not be same as yours. So with mere patience and maturity, let’s hop into our countdown.

11) Almost Ended the World

This incident took place in Daredevil #84, where a robotic assassin comes to our present timeline from the future in order to kill Daredevil and Black widow. This is because according to the robot assassin, somewhere in the future both Daredevil and Black widow will be the reason for the destruction of planet Earth.

By the end of the comics issue, the situation also hints to become a reality very soon, but at the right moment Black widow changes the entire timeline and hence saves the future, and we fans get a clean and happy ending.

10) Playing with Hawkeye & Winter Soldier

In the ‘Tales of Suspense #100’, we get to see the cloned version of Black widow. Despite being a clone, her thoughts were still the same as original Natasha. What’s more worse to talk about is that after coming into life again, she decides not to let anyone know that she is alive. But later she decides to leave hints for two of her former lovers so that they can track her down intentionally.

When Hawkeye and Winter Soldier follow the hints, they reach to a place where they find Black widow and hence, they break down emotionally. But instead of having a heartfelt reunion, Black widow stuns them both and steals Bucky’s arm as well as Hawkeye’s bow. Later in the comics it is revealed that she did all this to stop the Red Room program, but still this kind of act with someone who loves you is considered unethical.

9) Beating up Spiderman

Thinking about something like this in any of the Marvel video games sounds cool, but when it comes to reality, it may not be so good. In the ‘Amazing Spider-man #86’, Natasha starts beating up poor Spidey without any proper explainable reason for this.

The worse part of this fight is that Spiderman was ill and was even unable to walk properly, and then Black widow attacked him and started fighting. Peter was as much confused as you are now. Natasha didn’t stop at this, she even took it further by deciding to pick on him just for the sheer joy of it.

8) Destroying The Avengers

In the ‘Avengers #29’, Black widow literally tries to destroy the entire Avengers team, and also tried to kill Hawkeye.

This is not because she wanted to do it, but this was all because of mind control. The story goes something like this that when Black widow tries to lock down the Red Room program, she gets caught and her old bosses brainwash her and order her to kill the Avengers. Being mind controlled, she defeats US agent in hand to hand combat, kidnaps Scarlet witch and also tries to kill Hawkeye.

When there are so many evil deeds she has done being in complete sense, then doing something like this while being mind controlled is not a big deal.

7) Killing her own Brother

In a very lesser known comic book ‘Shadows & Light #1’, Black widow actually kills her own brother. This was a small 16 page comics, but it revealed a lot about Widow’s past.

So the story goes something like, when Black widow comes across a villain named Vindicator, she gets surprised to find that he is actually her brother, whom she assumed to be dead in the fire that killed her family. She feels both happy and sad for a moment, but when she realizes that her brother is now a criminal, she tries to confess him. The confession soon turns into a brawl, and at a moment during the brawl, Vindicator slips from the top of the water tower and dies by falling on the ground. Natasha could’ve saved him but she decides not to, and lets him die.

6) Eating up Spiderman

If you were shocked from the 9th fact about how Black widow has beaten up Spidey, then you are probably gonna die now. Well, this incident is from the ‘What If? #34’ which is set in an alternate universe where Spiderman and Black widow are married to each other. Imagining it is a bit hard I know, but what’s actually weird is that on the cover of the comic series, we can see a smiling Black widow who has just fed up on Spiderman.

This was done in reference to the wildlife where Black widow is a species of spiders who eats up their partner after mating.

5) (Coughs*) Tape with Tony Stark

We all know how much of a playboy Tony Stark is, and due to this he has fallen in love with Natasha a lot of times. Tony and Natasha had affairs not only once, but multiple times in multiple comic book issues and timelines. But the weirdest point among all their affairs and relationships came in the ‘Ultimates #1’ comic, where in the initial pages we get to see that a (coughs*) tape of Tony and Natasha has been leaked online and is featuring on the news worldwide. This cheap but cool act was done by Ultron.

Every superhero in the Avengers mention sees that on the wide screen, which makes Tony feel embarrassing. Later Wasp comes and calms Tony.

4) Kills her Best Friend

As an assassin since childhood, Natasha was taught to be emotionless and kill everyone as per the orders of her master. But there was one girl in the Red Room training program, whom she befriended and both were best friends. Her name was Marina.

In the comic ‘Black widow (vol. 5) #20’, Natasha was ordered by her superiors to kill her best friend. This was because the superiors felt that Marina had grown too fond of her undercover life and would soon betray them. Despite having an emotional aspect for her friend, Natasha shoots her down while she was taking a bath. Not only that, she also kills Marina’s cat in order to leave no suspect of the murder.

3) Killing Jarvis

Earlier in this article you’ve read how a (cough*) tape of Tony and Natasha was leaked online in the Ultimates comics, but what’s more weird than this is that in the ‘Ultimates 2 #9’ comics, Natasha actually kills Tony’s beloved butler Jarvis who interferes them while having (coughs*).

The story goes something like, as a spy, Natasha finds a way to get Tony Stark affectionate towards her. The purpose behind this was to get the Avengers’ secrets. Just when she felt that her work is over, she killed Jarvis by shooting a bullet on this forehead who had just brought them some breakfast. Killing innocents was always ok for Black widow, but killing Jarvis just hit me hard.

2) Killing Hawkeye’s Family

If you are shocked from the previous fact, then wait, that was not the most cruel stuff Natasha had done in the Ultimates comics. In the ‘Ultimates 2 #7’, she literally kills all the members of Hawkeye’s family including his infant child, just for the purpose of boosting back the fighting spirit of Hawkeye.

Long after this incident when Hawkeye somehow escapes from the Russian guards, he helps the Avengers to save the world. Once they save the world, he then hunts down and kills Black widow as revenge of his family.

1) Trying to kill Captain America

Surprisingly, this is the final and the only point in this list where Black widow has done something good for others while doing a wrong act. In some other circumstances, killing the moral hero Captain America would have been wrong, but this is not the case with Secret Empire. In the ‘Secret Empire #7’, Captain America gets brainwashed by the Cosmic cube and becomes a Nazi supporter.

Natasha tries to kill him for the sole purpose of saving Miles Morales from killing him, as per his vision. She doesn’t want Miles to be a murderer from a young age, hence she takes the responsibility of killing Cap on herself.

However, it is also a fact that instead of killing Captain, she could have tried to capture him so that the Avengers would’ve tried to reverse the brainwash effect.

So these were some of the worst things Black widow has done in the comics. Let us know if you liked it and also tell us in the comments, which of these points was the worst thing to do from your perspective. Do share it with your friends.
